Client-based Services

Housing and Supportive Services. A portfolio of programs providing statewide financial assistance in the area of adequate housing, supportive services and emergency financial assistance to individuals with HIV/AIDS. Major sub-programs include:

• Housing Opportunities For People With AIDS (HOPWA). A program that deals with housing needs in a variety of ways - construction, direct housing assistance and technical support for case management.
• Direct Emergency Financial Assistance (DEFA). A program that provides emergency help to those in need with rental assistance, utilities, food, medicines, insurance and transportation.
• Food Delivery/Nutrition Services. A program assisting those in need of help with food/meals by helping -to provide an adequate food supply and availability, effective delivery systems and nutrition education to individuals living with and families impacted by HIV/AIDS.
• Ryan White Statewide Supportive Services. A program currently focusing on statewide transportation needs for those impacted by HIV/AIDS.

Early Intervention Program (EIP), AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP), and AIDS Substance Abuse Program (ASAP). These programs assist persons who have tested positive for HIV to access primary health care. EIP pays for limited outpatient medical, diagnostic, dental and phychosocial services; ADAP covers certain approved drugs; and ASAP assists persons to access certain prescriptions and EIP approved medical services for the chemically dependent. Participation in ASAP is limited to persons seeking abuse treatment form a Division of Mental Health certified treatment center.
