Indy Pride Inc. Purpose and Mission Statement.

"Said Corporation is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes to benefit the public, including for such purposes, the making of distributions to organizations that qualify under Sections 501 (c) (3), or the corresponding section of any future tax code.  In response to the prejudice and discrimination that members of the gay and lesbian community face, this Corporation was formed to provide educational and social programming for all persons residing in the State of Indiana in the hopes that said prejudice and discrimination will be eliminated." Amended Article 2 (Purpose) of the Articles of Incorporation of Indy Pride Inc. Nov. 4 1996.

“Gay and Lesbian people have historically been subjected to prejudice, discrimination and misunderstanding.  In response to these concerns and issues, Indy Pride, Inc. was formed.  A prime objective of Indy Pride is to celebrate and educate others about the rich historical and cultural legacy of gay, bisexual and transgender peoples.  In pursuing this objective, Indy Pride seeks to expand understanding of all minority communities.”  Statement of Indy Pride Board April 28th 1997.

Indy Pride Inc. Mission. "Indy Pride Inc., through its purpose, fosters events that seek to educate, honor the history of the LGBT communities and celebrate the diversity of and create unity, in and between, the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered and Straight communities."

"Toward this mission, Indy Pride Inc. sponsors the following events and benefits to fund these events: Events: StreetFayre, Thanksgiving Evening, Spiritual Evening, Educational and Vocational Scholarships, Workshops and Support Groups (confidential and public), also members of the board have and do currently donate their time as volunteers to organizations that are beneficial to the LGBT community and/or are recognized under the 501 (c) (3) tax code. Benefits: Silent Auction, Indy Pride Family Picnic and Laugh OUT Loud."

Further Indy Pride Inc. supports and encourages patronage of all organizations that serve our communities.

Indy Pride Inc. will present its annual Silent Auction Sunday Night May 27th on the patio of the Metro Nightclub.  Enjoy the fun, the Karaoke, the good food, and try your hand at bidding on some wonderful items and services.

Board of Directors

 Indy Pride Inc., has seen changes of personnel since it was first formed as an independent Pride organization by Justice, to produce and facilitate the Indy Pride grass roots Pride Celebrations.  The Officers of the Pride Board are as follows:  President Ivan Howard, Executive Vice President Cara Putt, Treasurer Eric Munsch, Secretary Jason Papadakos.  If you would like to join us in putting on Pride Events, please call the PrideLine at 317.446.6432/ PrideFax at 317.687.8840 or email us   We have representatives from several community organizations working with the Board and welcome more.

As part of our mission Indy Pride has provided events where people of different genders and sexuality's could be together in a safe place and have the opportunity to learn more of the commonalties we all share.  To enable us to feel safer in the company of those we might not have shared time with before, thus furthering the building of community between us.  We would like to hear from those of you who have comments on this.
