Volunteers

We appreciate your interest in becoming a volunteer for the Gay and Lesbian Switchboard. We have several dedicated volunteers who make the Switchboard a top notch service organization and look forward to welcoming others who can help us maintain this high quality service. Please take a moment to review our requirements for our operators and determine if you are able to meet these requirements.

• Are you reliably on-time for commitments you have made?
• Do you understand the need for confidentiality?
• Are you able to feel empathy for another person?
• Are you sufficiently mature to handle problem situations?
• Do you have life experiences to relate to others in problem situations?
• Can you commit to working 3 nights a month or more?
• Can you commit to staying with the Switchboard at least 12 months after you have completed training?
