Gay Friendly Employers in the Indianapolis Area
All information in this area is verified by written company policies provided to the Switchboard for review. Companies that are "hearsay" gay-friendly but don't provide written policies will not be included in this section.
- Osram Sylvania - The Sylvania light bulb company has a customer service center in Westfield, IN. Supports all customers and end user calls for the country. It is stated in the company EEOC policy that sexual orientation is a protected status. No partner benefits as of 11/98.
- BMG Music Service - Info provided shows that same sex domestic partners who live in an exclusive, committed and financially interdependent relationship are eligible to receive spousal insurance benefits. No documentation of coverage in the company EEOC statement.
- IDG Books - Spousal equivalent is eligible to receive insurance benefits. Insurance benefit is not pre-tax.* Sexual Orientation defined as a status in the company EEOC statement.
- Xerox Connect - Domestic partner and children of domestic partner are eligible for insurance benefits. Insurance benefit is not pre-tax. * Xerox Connect is the computer systems networking, integrating, and consulting division of Xerox. Indy address is 9455 Delegates Row, 46240.
- Anthem Insurance - Sexual orientation listed a status in the company EEOC statement. Same sex partners and children of partners are eligible for insurance benefits*. To qualify for coverage, the employee and partner must: have been living together for at least 6 months and plan to continue doing so, be financially interdependent, be at least 18 years old and mentally competent, and not be married to anyone else.

* Because gay people cannot legally marry, any companies offering insurance benefits must do so as a post-tax option. Heterosexuals opting to insure spouses can do so with pre-tax dollars.
