Author and Therapist Michele O'Mara to Conduct Relationship Seminar

Indianapolis-based author and relationship therapist, Michele O'Mara will anchor a two-hour workshop at Unity of Bloomington on March 31. O'Mara, voted Indy's Best Gay Couples Therapist by Indianapolis Monthly in 2005, will join Carolyn Wiethoff, coordinator of South Central Indiana Equality, and attorney Sean Lemieux, who will discuss how to protect same-sex relationships from without�through political involvement and legal safeguards.

Admission is free. Donations to Indiana Equality are welcome and will be used to support its efforts to win civil-rights protections for LGBT individuals, couples and families. The event is co-sponsored by Unity of Bloomington, Indiana Equality, Bloomington PFLAG, Bloomington Beacon and bloomingOUT.

O'Mara, MSW, is a licensed clinical social worker and the author of Providers Handbook: Working with Gay, Lesbian and Transgendered Youth (2002) and 728 Questions for Heterosexual and Gay Couples (2005). Based on the latter, O'Mara's Bloomington presentation will explore how couples can deepen their mutual connection and fuel their mutual desire.

Founded in 2003, Indiana Equality is a coalition of organizations from around the state that focus on ensuring basic human rights for Indiana's LGBT citizens. Participating organizations include Interfaith Coalition on Nondiscrimination (ICON), Indiana Transgender Rights Advocacy Alliance (INTRAA), Indiana Action Network (IAN), Justice, Inc., Indiana PFLAG Alliance, Indianapolis Rainbow Chamber of Commerce, National Association of Social Workers (NASW) as well as regional steering committees in the Indianapolis, Bloomington, Evansville, Richmond, Ft. Wayne, Lafayette, and South Bend areas.
