Last year Indy Pride attracted more than 25,000 people to downtown Indianapolis to help raise college scholarships for teens. Each year, Indy Pride, Inc. provides scholarships to students who have worked to make Indiana a better place for the gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender (GLBT) community. Monies for the scholarship are obtained through fundraising events such as the annual Indy Pride Festival. This event is free to attend and open to the public.

This year's IN Pride celebration will begin on Thursday, June 8th and end on Sunday, June 11th. The actual Pride Celebration will be on Saturday, June 10th beginning with a parade on Mass Avenue leading to University Park. Following the parade will be music, food, spirits and fun.

National recording artist RuPaul will be this year's headlining act. His debut album, 'Supermodel of the World', was released in 1993 and, the single 'Supermodel (You Better Work)' was a hit in 1994, followed by a duet with Elton John, on 'Don't Go Breaking My Heart'. RuPaul has also been seen in films such as 'The Brady Bunch Movie' and 'Crooklyn'. Local and regional musicians will be rounding out the entertainment throughout the day.

Indy Pride is offering free booth space to any media organization that would like to participate and help bring a positive light to our cause. If you would like information on being part of the Indy Pride parade contact Scott Van Kirk at [email protected] Indy Pride Inc. supports and encourages patronage of all organizations that serve our communities.

Current sponsors of Indy Pride 2006 include IMC-Indy's Music Channel, Radio Now 93.1, Budweiser, Smirnoff, AT&T, Red Bull, Gregs, CHASE Bank, Metro, and Talbott Street
