March with the Pride of Indy!
05/07/2006 LOCAL MARCHING BAND SEEKING MUSICIANS FOR PARADE
![]() "We really want to reach out to those who might not be able to be a part of the band because of their distance from Indianapolis," said Jeremy Kaylor, Pride of Indy's conductor and artistic director. "Interestingly, the theme for this year's festival is 'Celebrate with Pride', and the band really feels that we want this performance in the parade to be a true celebration of our diverse community, so we have found a solution that will make it easier for more folks to participate." Interested musicians will receive their music three weeks prior to the parade and be asked to attend one rehearsal on the evening of Friday, June 9th, in Indianapolis. The IN Pride 2006 Festival and parade begins on the morning of June 10th. "There is no experience like it, marching in a band again, hearing the cheers from the crowd, with new and old friends who are all extremely supportive and accepting," said Stephen McCoy, a member of the band and board chair. Those who are interested are asked to contact the band at or visit the band's website at www.prideofindy.org. The Pride of Indy Band and Color Guard serves as a musical and educational resource to the Central Indiana community. The group is comprised of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and LGBT-friendly musicians. The band conducts its activities in a supportive, accepting and affirming atmosphere. Recently the group has performed at several community events such as the Homeward Bound Homeless Walk and the Indiana AIDS Foundation's Spotlight 2006 and continues to be Indy's true "community" band. The Pride of Indy Band and Color Guard is an educational and artistic division of Indy Pride, Inc.
