"Moonlight Serenade" under The Paramount Theatre stars with the Glenn Miller Orchestra

The Paramount Theatre welcomes the world famous Glenn Miller Orchestra, under the direction of Larry O'Brien, Tuesday, May 6 at 7:30 p.m. This is the last show in the 2002-03 Big Band Series.

The Glenn Miller Orchestra is the most sought after big band in the world today and considered the greatest band of all time. After Miller's death in 1944, the Miller Estate authorized the formation of the present Glenn Miller Orchestra in 1956. Since then, the Glenn Miller Orchestra has traveled over 100,000 miles each year, playing nearly 300 dates that add up to more than a half million people annually.

Today, the complete library carried by the Glenn Miller Orchestra totals over 1,700 compositions including Moonlight Serenade, Rhapsody in Blue, Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree and Chattanooga Choo-Choo. The group consists of five saxophone players, four trumpeters, four trombonists and three rhythm musicians.

In 1988, Larry O' Brien was asked by Glenn Miller Productions to be leader of the Glenn Miller Orchestra. "It was a great surprise to even be considered for such a job. I was following some very fine leaders, and I hoped I could uphold the fine Miller tradition."

In his small town of Jamaica, NY, Larry began playing the trombone at the age of 13. When he was 15, he became the first trombonist with the New York City All-City High School Symphony Orchestra and, at age 16, won the New York Philharmonic Orchestra Trombone Scholarship. After high school, Larry joined the Army and was assigned to the 328th Army Band. Following the three year stint in the Army, Larry went to New York University where he received his bachelor's in education. Eventually settling in Las Vegas, Larry worked with stars like Tom Jones, Frank Sinatra, Sergio Granchi, Wayne Newton, Roy Clark and many other noted performers. After 15-years playing the ever popular sounds of Glenn Miller, it is still no surprise to Larry how popular Glenn Millers music still is. "It seems that good things just don't ever die. I think the authentic Glenn Miller music is more popular with more people than ever before."

Tickets are $19, $17 and $15. Students are half price. Tickets are available at the Paramount box office, in downtown Anderson, 1124 Meridian Plaza, and by calling 642-1234 or 800-523-4658. For more information about this event and all Paramount events, please visit www.parathea.org.

When Pigs Fly at Theatre on the Square

Fridays and Saturdays @ 8pm Sundays @ 2:30 p.m.

Theatre on the Square closes its 2002/2003 Season of Bests with the highly anticipated return of the outrageous musical romp: When Pigs Fly. Barbra Streisand with a toucan beak and bamboo fingernails. A cowboy with feather chaps and strobing electric stars. A hat displaying the New York City skyline with a taxi and helicopter whizzing around its brim. These are just some of the loony creations popping from the mind of costume-design genius Howard Crabtree. Although the artist died at 41, on June 28, after a lengthy battle with AIDS, Crabtree's big-hearted wackiness lives on in his last work, When Pig's Fly. The show has been one of Theatre on the Square's most anticipated and requested repeat productions and will feature special appearances by a Mermaid, Centaur and Mr. Newt Gaingrich.

MTV's The Real World Comes to Indy
Film Inspired by Hit Show Returns for Fundraiser at Talbott Street

Norman Korpi, of MTV Real World, New York fame, and Clint Cowen, filmmaker, brought their film, The Wedding Video, to Indianapolis back in September of 2001. Now that the film has been bought for distribution from Warner Brothers and TLA Distribution, they're bringing it back for one last time.

The first Indiana premiere attracted nearly 300 people only a few days after the September 11th tragedy. The Wedding Video was also the very first film ever shown at the Indianapolis LGBT Film Festival.

In The Wedding Video, all hell breaks loose when guests converge at Norman's wedding in Beverly Hills under the watchful eye of a videographer. You'll have a hard time deciphering between the truths, the lies, the fantasy and the reality in this hilarious wedding gone-wrong.

The film reunites 10 former cast members from MTV's The Real World for this unauthorized, laugh-out-loud spoof of the genre they unwittingly pioneered. The Wedding Video is the first feature length film to come directly to you from the cast.

The special screening will be held Thursday, May 22nd at Talbott Street (2145 North Talbott Street), Indy's newest and poshest nightspot. Doors open at 8:00 p.m. and film starts at 8:30 p.m. Cover charge is $10 and will be donated to the Film Festival and the Indiana Youth Group. Immediately following the film, attendees can participate in the zany and fast-paced "The Fastest Gay Wedding in History."

In additional, Norman will be in attendance to answer any questions you may have about his groundbreaking film. Talbott Street is providing a cash bar the entire night and a "wedding reception" following with a live deejay.

This event is among nearly 25 other screenings in the U.S. that same night. A panel of judges will critique the event based on creativity, panache and style. The winner will receive live musical performances by Real World alumni Heather B., and Deejay Lars at an upcoming event.

For more information on The Wedding Video go to www.weddingvideomovie.com. For more information on the event or the Indianapolis LGBT Film Festival, check out www.indylgbtfilm.com.
