Jesus MCC to Hold Spirit and Place Events
Indianapolis--Jesus MCC will be participating in two events that are part of this year's Spirit & Place Festival, presented by the Polis Center at IUPUI.
On Tuesday November 5, John Tyler Connoley and the Rev. Jeff Miner will conduct a presentation sponsored by PFLAG, The Children Are Free, a program about homosexuality and the Bible, at Jesus MCC 7:00 p.m.
Also as part of this festival, a coalition of affirming congregations, including Jesus MCC, are bringing the Shower of Stoles to Indianapolis.
The Shower of Stoles is an artistic exhibit of hundreds of religious garments, each representing a GLBT clergyperson who has been silenced or driven from ministry. Like the AIDS Quilt, the Shower of Stoles puts a human face on suffering. The stoles depict the enormous cost of religious discrimination.
The full-range of 250 stoles will be on display at the IUPUI Library (lower level) all day Friday and Saturday, November 8-9.
