Theatre on the Square will open it's 19th consecutive season with the Indianapolis premiere of MID-LIFE! THE CRISIS MUSICAL, written by Marion Indiana natives and professional performers Jim and Bob Walton. The mega-hit show which has been running for over a year and a half since it's world premiere at Chanhassen Theatre in Minneapolis on January 27th, 2006 opens at TOTS on Friday, September 14th at 8:00 P.M. for a limited run.

With a balanced look at the "joys" of growing older, through a cast of three men and three women, MID-LIFE! THE CRISIS MUSICAL strikes a chord with anyone regardless of age. A series of scenes and sketches poke fun at the frustrations of mammograms, love handles, kids who won't leave home, weekend warriors and proctology exams. The cleverly crafted songs celebrate forgetfulness, reading glasses, biological clocks and menopause, but also touch on the sentimental wisdom that the later years afford us. MID-LIFE! THE CRISIS MUSICAL is a hilarious romp with an honest humor about the trials and tribulations of the unavoidable aging process.

The cast of MID-LIFE! boasts six of Indy's finest talents and features Catherine Vaughn Mobley who delighted audiences at ACT for over a year as the Iowa Housewife in Menopause! The Musical. She is joined by award-winning veterans of stage Bill Book (Nine, City of Angels), Cindy Phillips (Straight Jacket, A Chorus Line), Dave Ruark (When Pigs Fly, The Full Monty), Nathalie Cruz (Damn Yankees, Reefer Madness), and Darrin Gowan who first appeared last season at TOTS in the blockbuster hit The Great American Trailer Park Musical.

The production at TOTS will be staged by Artistic Director Ron Spencer with musical direction and accompaniment by Ray Lahrman (Kiss of the Spider Woman, The Great American Trailer Park Musical) and vocal direction by Lahrman, Spencer and Juli Inskeep (who will also serve as Stage Manager and understudy for all three women in the show). Others on the seasoned staff of MID-LIFE! are costumer Stephen Hollenbeck, set designer Jim Trofatter and graphics design and properties mistress Diane McGuire.
