The Dianalogues in Drag
In a series of comic monologues, The Dianalogues explores the impact Princess Diana’s image has had on women’s lives. From a fat camp beauty queen to a homicidal cabbie, the play portrays nine women at different stages of life, struggling to live up to their image of the ideal woman.
Written by Chicago playwright Laurel Haines, The Dianalogues has since been performed in Chicago, Portland, and Seattle. The big difference between those productions and the Bloomington Playwrights Project’s is this: all the female characters will be portrayed by men in drag. Directed by BPP Artistic Director Richard Perez, The Dianalogues Include Nick Simpson (Miss Gay I.U. 2002) and Angie Stevens, both featured entertainers in the Bullwinkles drag show. Rounding out the cast are the talents of Bloomington locals and past BPP performers Mike Price, Kris Lee, Kevin Woodruff, Phil Kasper and Robert L. Hackett.
Performance dates are August 22, 23, 24 at 8:00pm; August 25 at 2pm; August 29, 30, 31 at 8:00pm; September 1 at 2:00pm. Tickets are $8. Call 812-355-9001 to make a reservation.
