REEL GENDER film series: TRANTASIA
presented by INTRAA
Set in the glittering fantasy world of Las Vegas, TRANTASIA is a no-holds-barred behind-the-scenes look at a glamorous transgender pageant and the 6 provocative women who will finally realize their diva dreams.
Told through provocative hometown profiles and one-on-one interviews, TRANTASIA documents the sometimes humorous, always personal journeys of these true survivors. United by common histories of hardship and persecution, their ultimate triumph is a moving celebration of the human spirit.
Pushing the gender-bending envelope with a funny, profoundly touching and thoroughly entertaining sensibility, TRANTASIA combines the intense drama of this one-of-a-kind contest with unforgettable, over-the-top characters competing for fame and fortune in Sin City.

A gentle impression of a stroll through the Austrian countryside. The raw expression of a pagan culture spontaneously erupting from a barren earth. Beethoven's "Pastoral" and Stravinsky's Rite celebrate vastly different manifestations of the natural world, but they are united in their undeniably vivid imagery and undisputed status as pillars of the orchestral repertoire. The earth-shattering Rite of Spring, which caused riots upon its 1913 premiere in Paris, has not been performed by the ISO since 1980.

BALLARD Incident at Wounded Knee
BALLARD/DAVIDS "Indiana Concerto for Piano and Orchestra" (World Premiere)
SIBELIUS Four Legends from Kalevala (Lemmink?inen Suite)
Louis Ballard made it his life's mission to illuminate the unique motivations behind Native American music. Incident at Wounded Knee takes its title from two controversial events in the troubled history of United States - American Indian relations, but Dr. Ballard wrote that the work is only "an evocation of the traditions and moods of the Indian people." Similarly, Sibelius's Lemminkinen Suite, based on Finland's most hallowed epic, also walks the line between storytelling and abstract imagery. The "Indiana Concerto," left unfinished at the time of Ballard's passing, has been completed by his protege Brent Michael Davids.
These two special performances pay tribute to the artistry of Native American composer "Stands With Eagles" Dr. Louis W. Ballard (July 8, 1931 - February 9, 2007)
