February Pride Membership Mixer

The February Pride Membership Mixer will be held at Agio on Thursday, February 16 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Come out, bring a friend and network with other Pride members. Free appetizers and door prizes!

Brokeback Mountain Film Discussion

The Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art will host a discussion of the film, Brokeback Mountain, from 2:00-3:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 18 in the museum’s Lilly Theater. Join Bill Owens, director, International Film Festival; Ed Johnson-Ott, film critic, NUVO; Dennis Bingham, associate professor and director of film studies, Department of English, Indiana University School of Liberal Arts; and James Nottage, vice president and chief curator, Eiteljorg Museum, as they discuss homosexuality in the West, in Western art and in Western films and address Western stereotypes vs. reality.

The audience is invited to join the panelists in critically exploring the film and discussing its social impact. Admission to the event is FREE!

Participants are invited to come early and visit the museum for a $2.00 discount. Enjoy a Southwestern-inspired lunch in the Sky City Café, explore the museum and listen to a jazz performance by George Middleton and Musique in the Clowes Sculpture Court. Spotlight 2006

Kenyetta Dance Company and the Pride of Indy Marching Band and Color Guard will for the first time join the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Indiana Repertory Theatre and other performing arts organizations to make "a joyous noise" at Spotlight 2006, on Monday, April 24, 2006, announced David Hochoy, artistic director for the event.

Spotlight, a live showcase of the performing arts that raises funds to benefit the Indiana AIDS Fund, will return to the 2,000-seat Clowes Memorial Hall on the campus of Butler University.

Kenyetta Dance Company, an ensemble of dancers age 13 and older, weaves various forms of dance including ballet, hip-hop, jazz and modern. The company was founded by Vanessa R. Owens in 1998. The Pride of Indy Band is the Indianapolis area's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and LGBT-friendly pep band, comprised of professional musicians, teachers and music students.

In addition, 16 performing arts organizations from Central Indiana are scheduled to return to the stage for Spotlight 2006 including Dance Kaleidoscope, Indianapolis Youth Chorale and the Civic Theatre of Indianapolis. The complete list of participating arts groups is included in the attached calendar release.

TICKETS: $25, $65 and $125

All proceeds will benefit the Indiana AIDS Fund. Last year's event raised $370,000, propelling total event proceeds over the $1 million mark.
