Bloomington, January 12, 2005-- PRIDE, Bloomington's only annual film festival is set for Friday, January 28 and Saturday, January 29, 2005. The immense success of last year's Festival spurred the Buskirk-Chumley Theater to continue to present this ground-breaking event.
The festival is devoted to issues and situations concerning the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) communities. PRIDE is guided by a steering committee of 25 volunteers. From university students to senior citizens, the steering committee has helped to choose this year's selections.
"Now, more than ever, it is important for GLBT people and their allies to come together to celebrate who they are and their lives" states Kim Davis, Co-chair of the PRIDE film selection committee and president of the IU GLBT Alumni Association. "The committee is hoping that more people come to show support and unity for GLBT causes. We need each other and what better way is there than to gather to celebrate our lives and issues."
Over 60 films were submitted from all over the world (Canada, Brazil and the United Kingdom) and 19 are now selected. This year's festival will feature three, separate programs of short films and a sassy party to help kick off the festival in a celebratory fashion.
