Indianapolis, February 16, 2005-- A record crowd of over 450 people attended Indy Prides "Laugh OUT Loud - An Out of Closet Evening of Gay Comedy" on Thursday, February 10, 2005 at Talbott Street.
Audience members enjoyed comedy performances from Miss Richfield 1981, Bernie Lubbers and Hurricane Summers and songs performed by Ms. Robbie Bartlett. VIP ticket holders and corporate table participants also enjoyed a pre-show reception with Miss Richfield 1981. Hurricane Summers, known as the Mistress of Mayhem, opened the show. Known for her off-beat sense of humor and "fabulous toasts", Hurricane delighted audiences with her campy humor. Hurricane is a regular cast member at Connections
Louisville, Kentucky native Bernie Lubbers returned to Laugh OUT Loud and entertained the audience with his clean, clever, and story-like presentations and observations. He appears regularly on television and radio and is one the most requested performers on the popular national program The Bob & Tom Show, which has over 6 million listeners at any one time in 150+ markets.
Bernie, a regular fixture at corporate outings and charity benefits, is proud to serve as a celebrity Goodwill Ambassador of Brands for Future Brands, LLC which owns Jim Beam and other labels. In addition to his comedy routine, Bernie brought a friend from Louisville, Ms. Robbie Bartlett who performed several songs including "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" which brought down the house!
Using the Mary Tyler Moore theme song, Miss Richfield 1981 introduced herself to the Indianapolis audience with a slide show featuring photos from early years and her current long-term run in Provincetown. Created by Russ King, Miss Richfield 1981 entertained the audience by "bringing good tidings from the friendly citizens andresponsible merchants of Richfield, Minnesota."
"The show was a big success and everyone seemed to have a wonderful time," stated Indy Pride President Gary Brackett. "We are so thankful to Talbott Street and our corporate table sponsors: National Wine & Spirits, Dow AgroSciences, P.F. Changs, Cory Sanders (Sycamore Group), Kevin Warren (Century 21) and Curtis Holland (Meridian Design Group). "
Brackett went on to state that "almost all of our expenses were covered by our generous corporate sponsors - Statscript Pharmacy, Budweiser/Zink Distributing Company, EXP and The Word. This means that all ticket sales proceeds from the Laugh OUT Loud event can be used by Indy Pride, Inc. to support Indy Pride programs and will assist us in continuing to provide scholarships to GLBT students throughout the State of Indiana."
