IYG Bids Farewell to Director

Indiana Youth Group (IYG), a nationally honored youth development and service agency for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender youth has announced the resignation of Executive Director Robert Connoley, PhD. Connoley, an avid climber, has long had a sincere interest in moving west to take full advantage of its many outdoor activities.

Connoley started his position at IYG in August of 2000 after coming from the Boys and Girls Club of Richmond, IN. During his tenure, the agency has experienced significant growth. IYG has seen a 350% increase in youth attendance at its drop-in center from August, 2000 through November, 2003. Similarly, the agency's budget has grown 120% during the same period. The growth has occurred with the expansion of services to homeless LGBT youth in Indiana, and an expansive internet-based outreach program to rural Indiana teens.

IYG was founded in 1987 by Chris Gonzales and Pat Jordan. The agency moved into its drop-in center in 1992 with the support of the Health Foundation of Greater Indianapolis and the Joseph F. Miller Foundation.

Connoley and his spouse, Tyler Connoley, are relocating to Silver City, NM at the end of the month. IYG is currently conducting a nation-wide search for the new Executive Director. Qualified candidates will build upon Connoley's excellent work for expanding IYG's scope of influence. For more information on the job requirements, see the position announcement on the IYG website.
