Indianapolis, September 19, 2004-- Representatives from the campaigns of Governor Joe Kernan and challenger Mitch Daniels will be attending a spaghetti dinner fundraiser for Indiana Equality, according to an invitation sent out by the GLBT organization
The dinner will be held on Sunday September 26 from 3:00 to 6:00 pm at Aesop's Table, 600 Massachusetts Avenue, in downtown Indianapolis.
Indiana Equality is a coalition of regional and statewide organizations whose single purpose is to secure equal protection for GLBT hoosiers by amending the Indiana Civil Rights code to include sexual orientation or gender identity.
The organization argues that despite the flawed "special rights" argument made by opponents, nondiscrimination laws simply help to ensure that GLBT people have equal access to the same opportunities and protections granted to everyone else, such as the ability to work in an environment where people are judged by their job performance, not their sexual orientation or gender identity.
Reservation to attend the spaghetti dinner can be made by contacting Indiana Equality at .
