Indianapolis, October 30, 2004-- For 17 years The Damien Center has been a bright light in the darkness of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Indianapolis and the surrounding area. Literally thousands of lives have been saved, extended, or lived and ended with more dignity because of the Center's work. Today, the Damien Center is the largest AIDS service organization in the state, serving over 1100 clients last year alone.
The staff at The Damien Center spends their days changing lives. Now, they would like to give the community an opportunity to also help change the lives of their clients this holiday season.
The Center is contacting local organizations and businesses as well as individuals requesting them to sponsor families or individuals this holiday season. Due to their HIV disease, a number of clients are not able to afford gifts for their children or themselves. Simple items like sweaters, coats, boots, as well as toys are out of the price range of a number of the Damien Center's clients. Their goal this year is to provide all of their needy clients with an item to unwrap this holiday season.
If you would like to help the Damien Center make the holidays a little brighter for its clients who are in need, please contact Doreen Haley-Kilmer at (317) 632-0123 ext 270 or by email at
