Indiana Convention Delegation to Include Three Stonewall Democrats

Three members of the Indiana Stonewall Democrats will make up part of the delegation of Hoosier Democrats attending the 2004 Democratic National Convention July 26-29 in Boston.

Indianapolis residents Troy Liggett and Joe Miller, and Dennis Tropp of Avilla will serve as delegates to the 2004 convention. Delegates to the Indiana State Democratic Convention selected all three in June.

The three men honor a wish by presumptive Democratic Presidential nominee John Kerry that gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender persons be included in state convention delegations to represent all of America.

"We are pleased and honored that Indiana Democrats have followed the lead of Sen. Kerry and Democrats nationally in recognizing the important contribution of GLBT voters to the change we need in America right now," said Linda Perdue, president of the Indiana Stonewall Democrats.

Perdue said Kerry's campaign was committed to ensuring that convention delegations from each of the states accurately and fully reflect all citizens. "Senator Kerry's record is one of bringing people together, and he demonstrates that once again in his commitment to including all people," Perdue said.

With a 100 percent voting record from the Human Rights Campaign since 1995, Sen. Kerry is a powerful voice in the ongoing fight for civil rights for gay and lesbian Americans.

The Indiana Stonewall Democrats are committed to improving the record of the Indiana Democratic Party and educating voters about the vast difference that exists between the two major parties on issues of importance to the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender communities.
