Indianapolis, September 13, 2004-- At the Annual General Membership Meeting held on Wednesday, September 1, 2004, the members of Indy Pride, Inc. elected four new Board members: Jason Carmin, Curtis Holland, Kevin Morgan and Michael Plageman. Current Board members beginning the second year of their two-year terms are: Gary Brackett, Vivian Farris, Jason Lease, Michael Manning, Billy Montgomery, Eric Munsch, and Brad Plunkett.

During the Annual General Membership Meeting which was held at Talbott Street, Gary Brackett gave an overview of Indy Pride events held during the past year and reviewed the goals and accomplishments of the organization. Highlights of the presentation were:

Growth/Improvements

• New contemporary logo was designed to provide for a better image
• Communication has been enhanced through the re-designed website, occasional newsletters and meeting minutes being sent to members through e-mail
• Monthly membership mixers have been held at area bars and restaurants
• Membership in Indy Pride has increased 637% in one year

Fund Raising/Donations

• Laugh Out Loud Event - featuring Shann Carr and Hurricane Summers - made a profit of $3,359.31
• Hoosier 250 Tricycle Race made a profit of $933.81
• Pride 2004 had 119 vendors and informational booths and made a profit of $27,993.64

Donations

• Five scholarships totaling $3,000 were awarded to GLBT students in the State of Indiana
• $5,250 donation was made to the Gregory Powers Direct Emergency Financial Assistance (DEFA) Fund
• $5,000 grant was donated to Indiana Youth Group (IYG) for educational programming

President Brackett noted that Indy Pride could not have accomplished so much without the support of the local GLBT community, volunteers and local and national businesses and individuals who have donated funds and time to Pride events. The Indy Pride Board of Directors would like to thank the sponsors, volunteers, businesses and individuals who have donated so generously this past year.

An Indy Pride Board meeting was held at the conclusion of the Annual General Membership Meeting. The following officers were elected by the Board: President - Gary Brackett; Vice President - Michael Manning; Secretary - Jason Carmin; Treasurer - Eric Munsch.
