Indianapolis, November 26. 2004-- The Indy Pride Board of Directors announced that five individuals have been awarded scholarships for 2005. The following scholarships were awarded: Suzi Snepp - $2,500; Gregory Cork - $1,500; John Mfume - $1,000; Jays Janney - $500 and Caleb Colvard - $500.
Suzi Snepp works full-time for the Salvation Army-Adult Rehabilitation Center as the Food Services Director and has a part-time job at Metro Night Club. In addition, she is a full-time student at Ivy Tech majoring in Hospitality Administration/Culinary Arts. Gregory Cork is a full-time second year student at Ivy Tech majoring in Public Health. He is employed part-time at Statscript Pharmacy. John Mfume is a senior student at IUPUI majoring in Elementary Education and Secondary Math and Science Education. Jays Janney is a second year doctoral student at IU Bloomington majoring in Sociology. Caleb Colvard is a graduate student at IUPUI majoring in English and Education. Community Groups
Each year, Indy Pride, Inc. provides scholarships to students who have worked to make Indiana a better place for the GLBT community. Monies for the scholarship are obtained through fundraising events such as Laugh Out Loud and the annual IN Pride Parade & Festival. The scholarship deadline each year is September 1. S
